Stony Creek Urgent Care (SCUC) Centers are unlike any other urgent care facilities in the state of Connecticut. Based out of Branford and Orange, the centers bring high-end emergency medical level care to your neighborhood in an urgent care setting and provide lab services, X-rays, and more. These services are delivered by a medical team who are Emergency Medicine trained as well as highly trained radiology techs and medical assistants. Its state-of-the-art electronic medical record system allows a patient’s medical record to be easily sent to his or her primary physician to facilitate follow-up care.
Dr. David J. Young, SCUC’s Founder & CEO, is a board certified emergency medicine specialist with first-hand knowledge of the need and desire for community-based urgent care services. He said, “it is unfortunate to see the majority of people, 80-85%, waiting for hours needlessly in the hospital ER with ailments or injuries that can be treated at an urgent care facility.” His idea developed after years of work at the Saint Raphael, Yale & Griffin Hospital emergency rooms as an Attending ER physician. As a result, Dr. Young has a keen understanding of the need for and value of high-quality, affordable and accessible urgent care for individuals.
Young states “patients will have access to the same level of expertise found in a hospital-based ER, with more compassion and efficiency, at a fraction of the cost.” Our medical facility puts patients first, and the motto that is instilled in every SCUC employee is: “Treat your patients like they are your family.”
“Every single patient that comes to our facility gets a phone call asking how are you feeling”? Dr. Young finishes by saying that “compared to other urgent care facilities we take our time when hiring our medical professionals due to a thorough vetting process and high standards. We instill the Stony Creek way of patient care starting at the first stages of employment, and engrain those values day in and day out. Our patients never deserve anything less.”
SCUC diagnose and treat a variety of urgent conditions, i.e., fractures, broken bones, lacerations, IV Infusions, and hydration as well as colds, coughs, sore throats, ear infections, allergies and rashes and urinary tract infections. We also offer school, sports and camp physicals. When patients require additional care, SCUC provides referrals to specialists, such as primary care physicians, orthopedists, allergists, and ophthalmologists.
