The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is warning that there are certain papayas which have been imported from Mexico that have caused at least 14 cases of Salmonella Uganda in Connecticut. These papayas have also been sold in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. All told 62 people have been infected so far.

To avoid contact with papayas the CDC advises to avoid eating papayas whole but to also avoid any dishes made with papayas including, but not limited to, fruit salad.
