Every year on June 18th we celebrate National Eat Your Vegetables Day.  Of course, we believe that every day should be eat your vegetables day, so here are some ideas on how to get more veggies into your diet.  It’s not that hard to do and it is really good for you.

  1. Mix them up into your smoothies.  If you’re a smoothie drinker don’t miss this golden opportunity to put some extra vegetables into your day.  Mixing kale or other green vegetables in with your tasty morning smoothie can help you get more vegetables into your diet.
  2. Have a salad.  This may seem like an obvious way to get vegetables into your diet, but this is one of those things that you can easily do and do it so the veggies you are eating are exactly what you want.  You can have a salad in any configuration you want and it’ll taste delicious to your liking.  Just go easy on the dressing.
  3. On top of your sandwich.  Veggies can give your sandwich or burger a hearty crunch that will be refreshing and tasty while also providing a good source of vitamins and minerals for your diet.
  4. Be brave and have some avocado ice cream.  7-time Super Champion Tom Brady famously said that to keep his body limber and still get a tasty treat in every now and again he will eat avocado ice cream.  He swears it tastes like the “real thing” but we can’t vouch for that.  It will be another way to get your vegetables into your diet.

Vegetables are essential for a balanced and healthy diet.  If you are not eating enough vegetables, now is a good time to start.  Take today, National Eat Your Vegetables Day and add just one new vegetable to your daily menu.  One will lead to two and before you know it you’ll be eating like a rabbit.
