Stony Creek Urgent Care Celebrates 10 Year AnniversaryFebruary 12, 2019 4:18 pm
BRANFORD, CT. (Feb. 2, 2019) – Dr. David Young, Founder and CEO of Stony Creek Urgent Care, had a vision. In the beginning, David Young had other jobs. Growing up in Vermont, skiing was his favorite past time. So he became a ski patrol officer at a local ski resort. Feeling he needed something more challenging, he did carpentry for 15 years. Still, not enough of a challenge. Early on, he always had a passion and concern in helping people. So on to medical school where he obtained his degree in emergency medicine. He then went on to become an ER Attending Physician at a major local hospital. His concern, why have people waiting for hours needlessly in the ER with injuries or ailments that can be seen more efficiently in an urgent care facility.
Stony Creek Urgent Care (SCUC) is celebrating its ten–year anniversary this month. SCUC, (an urgent care facility that provides care for non–life threatening illnesses and injuries) opened its doors in Branford on February 2nd, 2009 and has since opened a second facility in Orange in March, 2013. Since opening their doors, the two facilities have served as an important resource for the growing communities in southern Connecticut. Beginning with a staff of 5, SCUC has grown & now employs over 30 medical & administrative personnel.
Founder, Dr. David Young, an ER Attending Physician at a major local hospital, saw a need for urgent care facilities 10 years ago. “It was unfortunate to see the majority of people waiting for hours needlessly in the hospital ER with ailments or injuries that can be seen more efficiently at Stony Creek Urgent Care.” A patient wrote, “Stony Creek Urgent Care is the best…their compassion & concern goes beyond their medical expertise.”
In addition to offering premium medical services to the general public, SCUC has developed strong relationships with area businesses and many local doctors in the medical community. In fact, SCUC is the leading doctor referred urgent care facility in New Haven County. With medical services ranging from school, camp & DOT physicals to treating workers comp injuries, respiratory conditions & IV infusions, Stony Creek’s place in the communities it serves, has become invaluable.
As Dr. Young says, “The urgent care market today is very fragmented in Connecticut. For patients, this means you can’t always count on the quality of care you will receive. After 10 years of service, we at SCUC have established and proven what urgent care services should be, high quality medical care you can always count on.” “I attribute these last 10 years of success and unparalleled medical care to my All Star Medical Team, Our Dedicated Administrative Team & our CFO, my wife, Deanna.” We all live by Stony Creek’s motto: “It’s all about you,” the patient. But mostly I want to thank all our patients, all 125,000+, who have visited one of our facilities over the last 10 years. Thank You for trusting us with your most valuable possessions: YOU & YOUR FAMILY!!! Welcome to OUR Family!
