UPDATE: Infant Liquid Ibuprofen Recall

February 1, 2019 2:45 pm Published by

Last month we reported on the recall of liquid ibuprofen being sold over the counter at a handful of national chain stores. This month that recall has been expanded due to concerns that there may be a dangerously high concentration of the drug found in these over the counter medicines.

Here’s what you need to know:

Stores affected: CVS, Wal-mart, and Family Dollar

Lots affected:

At CVS

  • Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 mL, in 0.5 oz. bottle
  • Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 mL, in 1.0 oz. bottle
  • Ibuprofen Oral Suspension Drops, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 ml, in 0.5 oz. bottle

At Walmart

  • Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 mL, in 1.0 oz. bottle
  • Ibuprofen Oral Suspension Drops, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 ml, in 0.5 oz. bottle

At Family Dollar Stores

  • Ibuprofen Oral Suspension Drops, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 ml, in 0.5 oz. bottle

If you are unsure whether the medicine that is in your cabinet is affected by the recall, your best bet is to dispose of it until the recall has been lifted.  You can learn more about this recall by going to the manufacturer’s website here.
