Take These Steps To Prevent The Flu And A Trip To A New Haven Urgent Care CenterAugust 19, 2018 2:26 pm
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to talk about flu season and we’re ready for the upcoming year. Last year was a long and difficult year for many who suffered from a very serious strain of the flu. The good news is that it’s behind us and the even better news is there are quite a few things you can do now to help prevent the flu from delivering you to a New Haven urgent care center this fall or winter.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) anyone that is 6 months old or older should get a flu vaccination. That is the first step in protecting yourself from the flu. Here are some other steps to take now:
- Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick
- While it may be tempting to “tough it out” when you are sick, stay home from work or school and take care of yourself
- Wash your hands
- Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing and encourage those around you to do the same
- Keep surfaces in your home or school disinfected often
While nothing will prevent the flu entirely, these steps will help you avoid coming in contact with the virus and feeling the effects of a very difficult sickness. It is never too early to take steps to protect yourself from the influenza virus.
