Is Your Workplace Making You Sick?May 9, 2018 4:06 pm
With this year’s overwhelming flu activity reaching every corner of the country, it’s important to remain educated on all of the hot spots for infection. Doctor’s offices, school classrooms, the gym, and even your workplace are among the top culprits for contracting seasonal flu. We spend an awful amount of time at our job and Stony Creek Urgent Care is going to highlight some of the germiest places in the office.
- The restroom. While we want to believe our co-workers all wash their hands frequently, but studies show only 5% wash their hands well enough to kill bacteria.
- The break room. Bacteria can linger on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Perhaps using a paper towel barrier between your hand and the surface of the fridge, coffee maker, or microwave can keep illness at bay. Always remember to wash your hands.
- Common areas. Copiers, fax machines, water coolers, railings, etc. can be hiding spots for germs. The paper towel trick will come in handy here too.
- Your desk. Disinfecting your own work space is a good practice to keep healthy and avoid spreading germs to your co-workers.
Stony Creek Urgent Care can see you and treat your illness in one of our two convenient locations: Branford, CT and Orange, CT.
